5. What's going on now is not a mass extinction.

We're not losing species and families and genera by the dozens or hundreds. Sadly, we humans are responsible for many animals going extinct, but we're really not yet at mass extinction rates. This may be helpful:

Actually look at the link , and note that previous mass extinctions ranged from 75 to 96 percent of all species. We are laughably below that number.
