1. When I first moved to Colorado,

I was driving down I-25 south of Colorado Springs when I noticed a sign pointing to a historical site: the Ludlow Massacre. It caught my eye because I grew up close to Ludlow, Massachusetts, and had never heard of a "Ludlow" beyond that context. I assumed it was referencing a massacre of American Indians. It wasn't until I took a Labor Organizing course in Grad School and we visited the site. It was powerful. Haunting.
