Some WD drives were suspect a while back ( last year? ) but mine weren't in the batches mentioned.

Ouch. Good luck tracking it down.

I have a mix of magnetic and SSD drives. Does it affect only the SSD's?

I don't suspect that it's "wires" though I've had glitches charging mobile devices, and even an audio cable that is now in the trash bin.
