A Blue Wave in Bucks County as Democrats Sweep Row Offices, Dominate Races Across the County [View all]
Democrats swept Bucks Countys row office elections, where there will soon be a new district attorney (Joe Khan), sheriff (Danny Ceisler), prothonotary (Donna Petrecco), recorder of deeds (Robin Robinson) and county controller (Neale Dougherty).
Democrats also swept the county court of common pleas races where Amy Fitzpatrick, Linda Bobrin, Dawn DiDonato Burke and Tiffany Thomas-Smith were elected.
One closely watched school board race was in Central Bucks School District. Democrats continued their recent dominance with a second consecutive election clean sweep. In Pennridge School District, Democrats won three out of four seats. Democrats in Bensalem swept four available seats, and in Council Rock Democrats won three out of four seats to keep their majority.
Statewide, State Supreme Court Justices Christine Donohue, Kevin Dougherty and David Wecht all Democrats were all reelected. The state Supreme Court has been at the center of pivotal fights over voting rights, redistricting and elections. It could again be called on to settle partisan battles over election laws ahead of next years midterm contests to decide the governors office and the U.S. House majority.
