He was initially on local TV. He was a neighbor (7 Mile and Meyers) and we would see him in the market occasionally. Starting in 1953 he had a noontime show on WXYZ called Lunch with Soupy Sales.

"Up in the air, junior birdbaths!"

"If you can't make both ends meet, make one vegetable!"

"Hey kids! What word starts with the letter F and ends with uck? That's right - firetruck!"
