I so wanted to say you shouldn't blame yourself!
Things were now ot of your hands, and a lawyer should probably seriously check into events.

I also was intending to post that I hope you have some family, or friends near by to support you.

A day, an hour a minute at a time with such a shocking series of incidents ending in the worse event.
