...is complement people I don't know. This opportunity most often occurs in a checkout line at the grocery store, or passing in the parking lot. If I see a woman with a great haircut or elegant manicure, an attractive outfit or shoes, a beautiful engagement ring, etc, I will make a favorable comment about it. No one has ever taken offense. People don't hear enough positive things much of the time, so I try to make a bit of difference in that.

Being a woman myself, I don't direct such comments to men, as I wouldn't want to it to come off as any attempt at flirting. At 74, I look old enough that I will comment on a cute baby or small child to a young dad.
