While retailers are gearing up for Christmas, business owners warn consumers might see fewer options and higher price tags for decorations this year as a result of the Trump administrations sweeping tariffs.
Artificial Christmas trees have been one of the hardest hit holiday staples. Chris Butler, the CEO of the National Tree Company, told The Hills sister network NewsNation that his company has had to increase their prices by about 10 percent and the product theyve imported is down 25 percent this year.
We tried to absorb some costs, as you said, you know, we asked our manufacturing partners to absorb some costs, but then ultimately, we did have to pass some cost on, Butler explained. He added that he would like to see the U.S. government grant an exemption on Christmas decor when it comes to the import taxes and has been working to educate lawmakers on why the trees are made in China.
Weve had very constructive conversations with many members of the Senate Finance Committee. You know, thats kind of where things could happen in the future, the CEO continued. The ask is really kind of more educational around why these products cant be made in the U.S., and then you know what some potential solutions could be.

THAT wasn't "the U.S. government". NONE of those people you talked to in Congress had ANYTHING to do with "tariffs". They abdicated their duty. THAT came from one person and it wasn't Congress, which is why there are multiple lawsuits going right now and the SCOTUS just had hearings on it last week.
