7. I don't understand these Republicans and Trump

None of their proposals make any sense. They are grumbling about insurance companies, but wouldn't money given directly to people in health savings accounts also go straight to insurance companies?

There's no way that they could directly give people enough money to meet all their healthcare needs. That's what insurance is for - sharing the risk. I had gall bladder surgery 6 years ago and my total bill was something like $54,000. After a hefty discount between my insurance and the hospital, I had to pay right at $5,000 out of pocket and my insurance paid $20,000. There is no way that Republicans would give me or anyone else $25,000 a year in a health savings account. One major surgery would wipe that out, and more.
