Better yet, make my own burgers (they are bigger and much tastier and my friends love them, just takes a lot of time).

With food costs going up, they probably took a harder look at their marginal profit stores and found they were not profitable anymore.

Reading the local news, there is now only one Arby's in the area. Trickle down effect is happening, the higher paying jobs are going bye bye, so people cut out not only skip nicer dining, but also fast food.
