What we really need to do is abandon our car culture. We need to turn our cities into attractive affordable places where car ownership is unnecessary.

Owning a car is an environmentally destructive, expensive, pain-in-the-ass at best. At worst it's a nightmare, especially when you are forced to drive a barely reliable old car to and from some crappy job just to survive, knowing that any major mechanical breakdown might leave you and your family homeless and hungry.

I resent that I am forced to own a car to be considered a fully functional adult in this society. Owning a car is not a freedom, it's a fucking ball and chain. People spend most of their lives confined to places within a few hundred feet of a filthy roadway trashed by automobiles.

By the way, fuck Elon Musk. There's nothing, absolutely nothing, he's done to make the world a better place. He's an opportunist, a grifter, a racist, a misogynist, and a destroyer of earth's natural environment. May I live long enough to read his obituary.
