(4,113 posts)the US/Canada North American Aerospace Defense Command. In the early 2000s, USSPACECOM was disestablished and its missions subsumed by US Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM). At that time, US Northern COMMAND (USNORTHCOM) was established and co-located with NORAD.
Peterson AFB, on the east side of Colorado Springs, remains the home for USNORTHCOM and NORAD. USSPACECOM will move to Huntsville, Alabama.
As noted in another post, the US Space Force is not a command but a military service which is headquartered in the Pentagon.
Disclosure - I spent mid-1986 through mid-1990 assigned to the first USSPACECOM, working in two Ops Centers within Cheyenne Mountain. Both Centers were moved to Vandenberg AFB, CA, when USSTRATCOM took over the space missions.
