If there was no longer any compassion left in this world or desire to understand even things that we see as simply evil then where do we go from here. Hatred, isolation, bullying, intolerance doesn't exist in a vacuum. Was this person born with this evil purpose or did they become so twisted and broken over time and through unimaginable suffering and rejection from others.
There are no easy answers. If we just dismiss all that is wrong as being evil without seeking to understand what created or drove the person into such a psychotic rage then how do we learn to stop perpetuating that in a world that sometimes seems like it is churning out broken people who feel the need to violently lash out
Why is it that our society, our country is the home of so many people who end up on this path that results in broken people wanting to find ways to inflict unimaginable pain and suffering
If we cannot find a way to learn to live together with love, tolerance, acceptance and we keep escalating our divisions whether they be religious, political, biological, geographical, cultural and we push away those different from us, by dehumanizing them, building walls, fighting wars, hurling insults and generating hate where love might have built bridges instead then I guess we are reaping as a society what we have sewn
Ask yourselves what drives people to do these kinds of things, are they born evil was this fate or did they somehow walk a path that only showed them hatred, pain, intolerance, until they became broken
It's not simple to look at what some people only see as evil and find even a tiny bit of compassion but what happened here was a tragedy for all involved and yes even for the shooter their peers, her family as well as the victims and their families, the church the larger community and our country
