She made it personal, though, when making it part of her campaign platform to prosecute him (no way you can claim an election campaign at some point doesn't merit 'political'--maybe not 'partisan', but elections are core politics).

That makes it easy to conflate the two.

Note also that the 5 judges that tossed the penalty pretty much agreed it was excessive and often "cruel and unusual" but apart from that they split 4 ways (3?) on the merits of the underlying case. Some agreed with the verdict, a couple said it should be tossed, and in between was in between. So they'll let a higher court deal with that.

Yes, Trump claimed a "complete" win, but in Trumpese that just means, "Hey, I'm right! Like always! Whatever the reality!"
