As one comedian put it, a party cannot run an "unwrapped mummy" and hope to win. To forget that so soon after losing to Trump is unfathomable. None of the elder statesmen or stateswomen are irreplaceable, even if they happen to think so. They are clinging to careers at this point, not principles. If the national Democratic Party does not wise up, Trump will end up being unopposed save for the classic "strongly worded letter" that has done nothing to halt or even slow down Trump and his unpatriotic goon squad.
Either fully embrace progressive economic values and stand up for the working class across the board or keep losing elections with candidates who are enthralled with the centrist economic policies which have only served (among many other things) to enshrine Republican health insurance plans as healthcare in this country and which have led to the rise of the most unqualified, incompetent, useless, ill-informed, and factually illegitimate President (who wishes to have dictatorial powers) that this country has ever seen.
