(20,246 posts)18. Making the US a "money making" operation will not end well.
Visitors to other countries pay a $25 visa fee. $250 says..."NO THANK YOU" to coming to the US.
We paid a $25 fee in 2018 to stay in Australia for up to 42 days. . A small fee is reasonable. But 10 times that? TACO Don will surely destroy the US economy with this scam. NO ONE will want to come here to visit, let alone compete in any sports competition.
Who would be exempt? Diplomats and their families? The decrease in the number of Foreign students will be felt as well. International workers?
The US under the TACO Don regime is on the fast track to becoming a "Shit hole" country.

OP
Good! Tourists are making the correct decision to stay away from this shithole country. I wouldn't come here either.

It's stupid, because it either becomes a big cost that puts off tourists

No, it is reimbursable in theory, if you tick all the boxes, but that could take years

The fact that Trump will be there probably wobbling around like HITLER at the 36 Olympics

It's a big world. There are lots of things to see in places that don't charge $250.

Just a business decision for a government run by money grubbers, get real at any ethics or caring about consequences?

Some seem confused. The following countries residents don't have to pay the $250

Not trying to side with one side or the other, but haven't we always had a visa fee?
