Posts claim Trump hallucinated conversation with Teddy Roosevelt. [View all]

During a speech in Medora, North Dakota, on July 1, 2026, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed he spoke with former President Theodore Roosevelt, asking him whether he considered the Panama Canal his finest accomplishment. Roosevelt, it should be noted, died in 1919.

Many social media users expressed concern at Trump's remarks, claiming he had hallucinated the interaction, and said his apparent lapse in mental acuity could justify removing the 80-year-old from office.

But although the president's words in the moment might have been somewhat inaccurate, he hadn't hallucinated an interaction with the 26th president. During a tour of the new Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library, Trump spoke with an artificial intelligence representation of Roosevelt. https://www.snopes.com/news/2026/07/02/trump-teddy-roosevelt-conversation/
