If you weren't outraged BEFORE THIS.... wake the hell up people. This is exactly the kind garbage that average Americans are experiencing and furious about.
I got dragged into court over a loan I supposedly took out and never paid. The judge would not accept my real id or any proof as evidence when the clerk brought me to him, to get him to dismiss it, as mistaken identity, on the day I received the warrant. Judge stated, "I want to hear what the attorney has to say." White, male, cis, straight, christian judge was very snippy to me and uttered something about the righteousness of ZEALOUS lawyers.
So I spent 6 months, was forced to make 4 appearances, over a MISTAKEN IDENTITY! No less than 8 pieces of ID (different b-day, different sex, different race, different signature, different address, etc) and the judge would not dismiss it! The lawyer, who went thumbing through the "white pages" and landed on me as his next victim as he searched for the right FIRST NAME, LAST NAME similar to mine, was definitely on coke or some kind of upper when he showed up to the first court date. I was furious. My fiances were completely frozen by the judge for 6 months! Finally, after the 3 court appearance, the judge forced him to produce the loan paperwork at the 4 continuance, and the signature was not only not mine, it was a different middle initial, different sex, different race....etc.
The bastard lawyer didn't even have the damn paper work nearly the entire 6 months!
I immediately filed against a complaint with the bar association. Who basically responded with, "we don't care" and that "this doesn't reach the level that warrants anything be done" in a blue state! Blah, blah, blah...we want zealous lawyers....blah, blah, blah.
Welcome to the new world order. Guilty till proven innocent. Money over human beings. Perception over reality. Judgements and assumptions over facts. Christian nationalists and their bible is the new law.
