3. Depends on what happens with it

Some people think AI will kill us all, some people think it will create a utopia where all humans don't have to work or do anything because the machines will do everything.

Some people think it's all a big bubble about to blow up and tank the economy. Some think it will be like the dot com bubble where even though a bunch of companies failed, the resulting infrastructure will be useful going forward.

It's already causing layoffs and that will accelerate unless AI progress stops. If that continues, it could tank the economy because getting to 20% unemployment would be a disaster for the economy. People like Sam Altman talk about how it will create infinite wealth so a universal basic income will be easy, but then again you don't see him giving up his billions like money won't matter soon.

I think it will short term worsen our inequality, but it has the potential to cause that to reverse if people get angry enough.
