Our chance to stave off the worst of climate change came and went a decade ago. Oil has LOTs of other uses beside plastics, which makes it valuable to burn, but stupid people are stupid.

As to batteries, we are now moving away from volatile battery chemistry chock for of high cost metals like, nickel, cobalt, manganese etc, and moving into sodium and iron.

For the survivors of the climate cataclysm, there is hope for a cleaner future.
