AP Finds 31 Court Order Violations by Trump Administration

An Associated Press review of court records revealed that in the first 15 months of President Trump's second term, district judges ruled his administration violated orders in at least 31 lawsuits covering immigration, spending cuts, and layoffs. Examples include denying bond to immigrants after rulings declared it unlawful, deporting alleged gang members despite injunctions, and withholding aid from states not aiding immigration efforts. Legal experts called the pattern unprecedented compared to prior administrations.

Legal scholars and former federal judges said they could recall at most a few violations of court rulings over the full four-year terms of other recent presidential administrations, including Trump’s first time in office. They also noted previous administrations were generally apologetic when confronted by judges; the Trump administration’s Justice Department has been outright combative in some cases.
