1. I recall a case involving a plea bargain with a drastically reduced penalty for crimes such as those in this case.

It may have been this case, in which the original plea bargain called for no incarceration beyond the one day which the defendant had spent in jail following his arrest. The new plea bargain in this case calls for only thirty days of incarceration. The maximum penalty the defendant faced is life in prison.
