I don't know if the Andy Falk in this band, who's also their producer, is the producer named Andrew Falk.
There's a trio of three women using the name The Gems. Didn't see anything in that quick YouTube search for a male band called the Gems.
But there was such a band, and they recorded as early as the 1970s:
