OP
We probably should attempt to determine if it's AI before we go singing it en masse at anti-Trump rallies

I did some quick googling. There's an Instagram account for The Sympathetics

All of the members are pretty easy to find on FB, fwiw, where they post about the songs.

Yes, the singer started nearly 50 years ago, going by that Discogs page. They're a real band, and I

I'm not seeing that. But some YouTube videos have an AI summary - not part of the video - that is

These guys happen to be very anti-AI. The distributor (Distrokid) might use that to post their artists songs on YouTube

Just saying
ElementaryPenguin
(7,909 posts)2. It's not. I know the people that made it.
But I agree you do need to be careful.

and has a warning that AI can make mistakes.

I can assure you

(61,524 posts)5. I did some quick googling. There's an Instagram account for The Sympathetics
https://www.instagram.com/thesympathetics/
but I can't see much of it because I don't use Meta.
One of their three YouTube videos - Monday Feels Like Friday - says in the video description that the band members are Jim Petersen, Andy Falk and Max Martin.
That info led me to a Songstats.com page with a bit more information:
https://songstats.com/artist/yqrgz07d/the-sympathetics
The page of search results where I found the Songstats page above also included search results for this Instagram page
https://www.instagram.com/p/DTCd4RrjhET/
which says "Sorry, this page isn't available" when I click on it, but Google search results had this snippet for it:
I don't know if the Andy Falk in this band, who's also their producer, is the producer named Andrew Falk.
There's a trio of three women using the name The Gems. Didn't see anything in that quick YouTube search for a male band called the Gems.
But there was such a band, and they recorded as early as the 1970s:

but I can't see much of it because I don't use Meta.

The Sympathetics are a new indie pop-rock band that aspires to take the genre to a whole new level in terms of artistry and accessibility. The trio consists of singer Jim Petersen, drummer Max Martin, and guitarist/keyboardist, Producer/engineer Andy Falk.

No footage of them performing, but it's clear from other posts that the singer has been singing for some time.

and that it's also a good song (which was the point of my sharing it).
Oh, what curious times we live in!

(607 posts)10. I know nothing about the band
It appears that some of you know them or at least the lead singer. I also know very little about how AI works. But I remain puzzled by the "made with Gemini " statement at the end. Is it possible they used AI for some of the accompaniment so it is a mixed production?
highplainsdem
(61,524 posts)11. I'm not seeing that. But some YouTube videos have an AI summary - not part of the video - that is
added by Google's Gemini, and I think.that has the caveat that AI can make mistakes. It's referring to the summary, not the video.
