In reply to the discussion: Former Maximum Security guard does an AMA on Reddit in regards to Epstein's death. [View all]snot
(11,711 posts)20. Worthwhile post.
One cavil: the author describes the following as constituting just one assumption: "Powerful people with a lot to lose had motive to ensure Epstein never testified. Someone with access and authority coordinated the conditions for his death or removal. The scene was managed before, during, and after." I wouldn't call that quite fair; I'd break it into:
Powerful people committed crimes and don't want to be exposed, and/or may want to continue to be able to use Epstein or his info for their own purposes, and having him alive might be the best way to further those concerns.
On behalf of those PTB, someone concocted the plan, and others had the means and opportunity to carry it out despite the risk of failure and blowback.
At least one such helper procured a corpse that looked enough like Epstein to pass for him and that had the right kind of injuries to pass for suicide.
Many helpers were successfully bribed or otherwise silenced, including not only the guards, but all those who brought him the extra sheets, took him out, drove the truck, and have dealt with him since (note that anyone who doesn't want to be exposed as having helped pull this off would now also be subject to blackmail by anyone who knew of their involvement).
Still a lot fewer assumptions than those listed in support of the official story.
Fwiw, the arguments I've seen in favor of a substitute corpse have generally claimed that the corpse's ear doesn't look like Epstein's. I've scrutinized the photo of the corpse that they've relied on and compared it to photos of Epstein alive, and I did not find the claimed discrepancy convincing; to me, it looked like it could be the same ear, just from different angles.
That said, I also saw something claiming that at least one other inmate had overheard Epstein berating himself for being too cowardly to off himself. For a while, that made me think the suicide must have been genuine; but then I realized that if Epstein knew of the plan to bust him out, he may have just been helping to set up the "suicide" interpretation. For whatever reason, I find it hard to imagine someone like Epstein berating himself for not committing suicide in a voice loud enough for others to hear.
