rogers park is the northeast tip of chicago. it’s 1 of the most ethnically diverse zip codes in america. a long time landing place for immigrants, it’s gone from ww2 jewish refugees to mostly mexicano almost in my lifetime. many of those folks never left. i’ve lived here for 38 yrs, raising 5 kids.
there r ethnic restaurants and grocers from every corner of the world. u can find cuisine from a doz african countries, as well as pretty much every country on the planet.
it is truly welcoming and friendly. it’s the most affordable good hood in the city.

it’s a little bit of heaven and truly american. and when ice came, folks stepped up. showing up w whistles, walking kids hime fro school, delivering groceries to families afraid to go out, and buying out tamale and elote sellers so they cd go home. (and passing those out to the homeless.)
i’m not sure mpls wd have stood up the way they did w/o our example. but they might have. cuz that’s america.
