9. You're giving the American electorate too much credit.

Look around you sometime. Do you think the vast majority of Americans are as engaged in political discussions or educating themselves on what the Constitution and democracy really mean? All I see are people whose reasons for their choice of votes are so far removed from what they should be; i.e. the parties' policies, or they can't be bothered to vote even when the process is made as simple as possible via mail in or drop off voting.
