7. So, are people currently in the academies of the various branches of the military bound by possible lifetime call ups?

If not, can they resign and not be forced to follow illegal orders or be tried for 'treason'? Anybody currently considering a career in the military has to be rethinking that option. Being a future victim of civilian policy whims doesn't sound very wise at present.

This 'government power by fiat and presidential tantrum' has to have some legal limits?
