We were warned. Edward Snowden, Chelsea Manning, Reality Winner. They all warned us. And we ignored the warning because the powers that be convinced us it was okay. We went right along with it.

Edward Snowden leaked thousands of classified documents detailing a massive and secret global surveillance system run by the U.S. government and its allies. PRISM allowed the NSA to access user data from the servers of major tech companies Microsoft, Google, Apple, and Facebook.

Mass phone record collection: a secret court order ordering Verizon to hand over the telephone metadata of millions of American customers to the NSA daily.
Surveillance exposed that the U.S. was spying on the phone calls of allied world leaders, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Monitoring internet traffic, the NSA was harvesting contact lists and tracking internet traffic globally.
