...but I agree with not 'sympathizing' with Comey, other in expressing solidarity with his cause, which is ultimately all of our concern, especially if this government is successful in harrassing, intimidating, or prosecuting political rivals of the president who has openly threatened Comey and others.

I don't think we should lose the thread on what's important today, assuaging some feelings or opinions on that past election or any other issue with Comey.

No one is telling you what to think or believe by pointing to what's important in this fight, and how critical it is that we're not either divided or weakened in our defense against what Trump is doing.

They're counting on that. I heard speculation about why Trump chose Comey, given that he helped him get elected.

Aside from the Russia stuff, I'd guess it's a cynical calculation of his that Democrats would be divided and ambivalent about defending against him attacking our political rival.

I'm hoping that's something Democrats can put aside to make a demonstratively broad defense of our position, beyond even our own political interests, against what Trump has done and is contemplating.

It's not an unreasonable ask.
