...I think that we'll not only see protests against this action, but Comey will be an obvious subject of demonstrators highlighting that abuse.

It's not theoretical or speculative anymore.

The line has been crossed, and there should be some degree of integrity in our position that it isn't just about defending our own prerogatives, but that even defending someone we have political or other disagreements with the insistence that the federal government won't act precipitously against them is also something that we would be inclined to support.

Plenty of people already advocating against this indictment, already making that adjustment and hardly mentioning the Hillary election, if at all; focusing all of their efforts on the corruption right in front of us.

Nothing is going to be assuaged about that election in any of this, and I'd guess most folks who will protest this in different forums will recognize that, and keep their personal animus toward Comey under their hat in order to direct all of the heat to Trump and his henchpeople.
