In reply to the discussion: Turning Point USA Calls Kirk's Assassination A Miracle [View all]DetroitLegalBeagle
(2,433 posts)29. Bullets do weird stuff sometimes
Seen it plenty in Iraq. But, a 30.06 to the neck should have absolutely gone straight through. There isnt enough mass in the neck to stop a bullet of that size. The deflection of body armor doesnt really work either. If he wore a low profile Kevlar vest, the bullet wouldn't have beem deflected, it would have zipped right through the Kevlar as Kevlar isnt rated for that caliber. He would have needed to have been wearing plates and it did not look like he was wearing a plate carrier under his tshirt.
So miracle..eh no. Just pure luck that the bullet did something weird. Or maybe it impacted on the tent pole and lost enough energy that way.

I'm sorry, but if God needs the likes of Charlie Kirk to bring people to him, I don't want anything to do with it

I'm sure there was no vest, none visible. No ricochet, just turbulence.

I have a really hard time believing a 30.06 round would not leave an exit wound if Kirk was struck directly in the neck.

There was no one behind him so a bullet leaving his body wouldn't have hurt anyone else.
