(44,157 posts)If there is ever any actual breaking news to be had, I personally either post it in the Latest Breaking News forum, or I post here with a link to a reputable source.
Clickbait is a certainly a problem.
The thing about my satire pieces, however, is that there's no weblink to be clicked. That--and my trademark "Details at Eleven" picture--should be a sign that this isn't actually a real news piece, even if the intended satire falls flat despite my best efforts.
I would never take for face value anyone's claim of actual news without any type of accredited source. Not here at DU or anywhere else.
What's more is even if there is a link, it doesn't guarantee anything in and of itself.
Too often you'll see someone provide a link to the source, only to find that it's from a dubious website that should never be taken as a legit news source. Or maybe it's one of those AI generated fever dreams of a Youtube clip that sometimes people fall victim to.
Writing these pieces is just one of my ways of trying to make sense of a senseless world.
