(570 posts)I don't read it as requiring Jews be held accountable or making us responsible. Rather that we all examine our conscience and do all we can to stop this. The Rabbi is pretty clear and said "If We Don't Act Now". Because now, we all know. There can be no excuse that we didn't know.
There's the old saying that silence is complicity, but I go further. Silence isn't just complicity, it's consent.
For the record, I and many I know do feel accountable for the actions of the Trump government. Is it not our job to care for our brother? Is it not our job to hold our government accountable? Whitewashing, looking away or being silent when things are done in our name is complicity. I think indifference is complicity too.
The reference to Jews abroad was pretty specific. Speak out and stop funding organizations that support Netanyahu's crimes, especially when him and his ilk go on and on about doing it in our name. We have a lot of power, we need to wield it for good.
