First of all, if that is your concern ,then why did you post the article? The article was about legislation to remove non-citizens from Census counts. The idea of an "immediate" Census was PART OF THAT LEGISLATION! If Trump thought he could call a Census any time he wanted, he would never have bothered with the legislation to begin with. In case you haven't noticed, the Republicans don't do legislation any more. They don't bother with legislation for something Trump thinks he can do by Executive Order.

Most importantly, a Census can't just happen happen without any planning. In fact, it takes over 10 years to do all the work necessary to be able to conduct the Census. Work on the 2030 Census began in 2019. It would literally be impossible to conduct a Census in 2026 - there is no infrastructure in place to do it.

Some people like the person who wrote that article seem determined to freak out over every single insane idea some idiot Republican comes up with - no matter how unserious it is - and ignore that it is obvious there is no chance whatsoever of it happening. I swear, if a Republican announced plans to to block out the sun (like Mr. Burns in the Simpsons), those people would take it seriously and write their panic articles about how big a threat this was.
