(955 posts)And even a solid number of Israelis aren't in favor of what's happening. As an American I don't hold myself morally responsible for the torture committed by the Bush administration or what the Trump administration is doing. I voted, donated, and protested against it, but lack the effective ability to do more to stop it. The Israelis against it also lack more effective tools. It's not fair to expect them to try to run aid convoys or try to sabotage the IDF.
It's difficult because of the history of people blaming Jews as a whole for things. It's different than saying Christians because of that history even though a Christian leader might use the same phrasing in terms of using the religion's name. And it's hard because Jewish is both religious and secular in a way American, or French is not. It's an identity that has been used to persecute.
I don't think the rabbi intended it to be ready as people are, but I understand why some people do.
