Politics and culture are intermarried now. How we present ourselves matters. We get tied down in, "You didn't say exactly what I want, and you didn't say it in the exact way I want. Unacceptable." And then we slap around our potential allies (and sometimes our actual allies) for not repeating the message back to us in a pleasing enough manner.

And so our top-down attempts at messaging are like reaching for lube, but oh no, you actually grabbed the icy hot, and now the fuckin's awful.
