In Fromm's 1972 classic, "The Anatomy of Human Destructiveness," he documents how when a sociopath achieves political power, without fail those with anti-social personality disorders are drawn close within their orbit. Then the ASPDs recognize there are no limits to the cruelty that they inflict upon innocent people. And as the only innocent Hurricane noted, every cruel dictator in human history has convinced the public to blame some smaller sub-group for all that is wrong in their lives -- including their low level of being.
