How about Tony Soprano for president?

And why not? Tony is an alpha male who takes control. Could you picture him taking any crap from Republicans? And blue dog Democrats would worry about ending up among the missing.

Sure, rivals like big oil, insurance companies, big pharma, banks, and Wall Street would try to whack him. But as we’ve seen over the years, Tony has a knack for surviving.

The question then becomes, what’s in it for all the rest of us? Well, Tony always wants to be paid his tribute. But he also makes sure that those who are with him get to earn a decent living. He needs them. So I guess if we voted him into office, he’d need us too.

And yeah, I know he’s a fictional character, but so what? A fictional character as president might be an improvement over what we’ve been living with for 30 years.

Okay, so this is a tongue in cheek posting. But to tell the truth, I doubt if Tony could be any worse than the thugs who currently govern us -- or those who own them.
