Obama running to the right will shed even more of his support

I was looking at the thread talking about Obama's recent declining poll numbers.

And Obama's numbers have been dismal for a long time now. The wrong track numbers have been consistently in the 60s for months. Thats right, over 60% of Americans say the country is heading in the wrong direction, and that hasn't budged for a long time.

Obama seems to have decided he will go even further to conservative Democrat land to try and save himself for re-election. But that appears to be backfiring, and I think it would be a fair bet that it will get worse next year, if he doesn't change course.

I was reading another article which basically said Obama's numbers and trend lines are so grim, especially with the independents, that it will take a minor miracle for him to turn these numbers around in time to not be easily defeated in 2012.

I wish I could be more optimistic, but its looking that unless Obama doesn't change his ways dramatically, which appears increasingly unlikely, or some kind of war or other disaster happens to have the country rally to him, we are going to have to deal with a new republican president in two years.

Maybe I should just pretend all is well in Obama land, and everything is rainbows and fluffy clouds and will turn out wonderfully. But I can't, I'm a realist and it doesn't work that way.

And nobody likes a "leader" who falls for anything.

He will keep moving more to the right seeking to unite the "moderates" composed of the Conservadems and the McConnell Republicans.

The Whitehouse is going out of its way to enrage what they refer to as "THE LEFT". Someone at the White House even made a joke that they didn't go far enough in getting the Left to be outraged.

All the reporters agreed with Tweety that the 2% tax break on salaries is the first step in getting rid of entitlements, and then their will be more steps.

Oh, and Obama is planning to give a major speech to the Chamber of Commerce.

I am not making this up. Perhaps this show is on line at this point and people can check it out.

Unless something remarkable happens Obama's a one-termer. In fact I see many dem big money backers/big wigs forcing him to not seek another term by next summers end.

However the damage he and his 'backers' have done to the democratic party with this 'hippy punching triangulation" BS is major. And will take some major effort to fix by 2012 if the dems want to avoid a blow-out. And unfortunatly it will mean deep-sixing the DINO's and going it alone without Obama, and the DLC's help (including running against him).

Sure, he's organizing a community all right - he's organizing the communities of billionaires, righties and CEOs against US, the people who voted him in.

More and more I feel like Obama is Prince Hal and the left is his Falstaff.

it surely puts another spin on things if a generic establishment republican can beat the president in ballot held today. the obvious takeaway for me is that he needs to stand up for his party in order to win these people back. but that's not what he's signaling at all. his interview on NPR's Morning Edition was chilling in this respect.

In fact, I think part of that agenda may in fact be to weaken the Democratic Party with it's traditional constituencies.

Infact, they are taking all of Congress to the right.

How can we be the polar opposite? How can we get the true Dem leaders listen to us?

The only way to get Congress back to the middle is to pull them back to the left... and I hate to say this, but at this moment in time, the middle sounds pretty good compared to the right wing wacko world we now find ourselves in.

If top dollar Dem donors are done funding Obama, maybe they can start funding our movement.

In adding to my post up thread at #8, I will say that the reporters (Andrea Mitchell was one of them) seemed to be somewhat in awe of the Tea Party. They spoke of the possibility of them being put on the cover of Time Magazine as "Persons of The Year".

Of course the whole crowd on that show, including Tweety, very much consider what we use to call the "Conservative Right" as now "Moderates". No mention was made of the re-branding. :(

How can going after Social Security be considered a "moderate" issue? I don't even think those run of the mill, working stiff Republicans would support this. Dwight Eisenhower, who expanded SS, said people who did not support SS were stupid. What a LEFTY that Eisenhower was. :sarcasm:
