School District Bans Clothing Line Featuring 'Nazi Imagery'

MURRIETA (KTLA) -- A Riverside County school district is facing a possible lawsuit after banning a clothing line marketed by a well-known dirt bike stunt team whose logo includes Nazi-type imagery.

Many school districts already ban gang or hate-related paraphernalia and symbols in their dress-code policies.

But, now several schools in the Inland Empire, including the Murrieta Valley Unified School District, have specifically banned clothes from the Temecula-based Metal Mulisha Riders.

At issue: school administrators say the popular clothing line is adorned with Nazi-style logos.

George Carlin "Concerning school uniforms, it's not even a new idea. I first saw it in old newsreels from the 1930's, but it was hard to understand, because the narration was in German! But the uniforms looked beautiful. And the children did everything they were told and never questioned authority"

13. There's sublime and there's ridiculous. Do you have a child in public school?
Believe me, I'm no authoritarian, far from it. But I forbid my child from wwearing shirts with any screen print or advertising logo on them--and he dresses much more creatively (and sharper) than the other boys because of it.

18. And no behavior problems, correct? I kid, of course, but it's one less
headache for administrators, teachers, parents--and even the kids, whether they like them or not.

My son actually saw uniforms in Target and thought they l;ooked pretty cool!

- Runes were used by many not just the SS
- What some call Fritz style helmets are worn by the US Army today (http://www.army.mil/-news/2009/05/01/20529-army-issues-recall-for-some-combat-helmets/)
- Everybody does skulls these days

10. In the word "Mulisha" in the OP.
Then again, KISS used two of them. That was enough to get the former West Germany to insist they change it, which they did, just for them.

15. I don't understand how the clothing line could sue the school district.
The school district has the right to set their own dress codes, I mean if they went to uniforms would clothing manufacturers sue still?
