Let's give republicans a reason to hate her...

What makes people think that Democrats will get what we want with a republican led House is beyond me!

How about unemployed people? Who will they blame when extended benefits cease?

We let ALL THE tax cuts go....

The breaks for the people under $250,000 amounted to about $400 a year according to a friend of mine whose husband made $82,000 a year...

But the advantages to have more money in the till from all sides is a playing card for the Unemployment to become a more reliable safety net.

We have been kicked around toooo long....We need a lot of reform and unless we stop and demand one item at a time and stick to our guns, it will be the same old abuse of the blue collar workers.

We can play the NO game come January if they
dare try to put it back in place. I doubt
they want their name directly attached
to a budget increase. This is a game, and
play it smart...and you will be more than
a foot note in history.

And the Senate is on track to pass the tax cut deal on Monday. In January there will be even more Republicans in the Senate. And of course the President would sign, since this is his proposal.

So the only thing Pelosi ACTUALLY has the power to do is make sure unemployment is not extended for 13 months, make sure none of Obama's tax credits for the poor and middle class get through, etc.

The Republican House will easily pass it in January. The Senate will easily pass it next week, and again in January if necessary. Obama will obviously sign it, since this is his proposal.

Why do people keep thinking Pelosi has any power whatsoever to end the tax cuts? She can delay it now and get steamrolled over in January, but that's about it.

All they can do is vote against a bill; the minority can't keep a bill from coming to the floor.

Why do you think HCR with a public option, DADT repeal, etc. all passed the House? Because the House's rules give much more power to the Speaker over the House than the Senate's rules give to the majority leader over the Senate.

Dear Mme Speaker,
This tax cut bill is an atrocity. Nearly $1 trillion dollars just to get SOME of the unemployed covered for a year? Can't the UE benefits be covered under TARP instead? Please don't let this bill come to the floor for a vote. Continuing the tax cut for the millionaires and billionaires is unacceptable! So is the estate tax cut. And the fica cut will harm SS. Please prevent this, we cannot afford it and it does not do nearly enough good for the cost. Most of it is more pointless rewards for those who caused the problem. Lots of people stand with you on opposing this. I think many Independents would too. Also, the UE extension should be tied to the UE rate, not an arbitrary time limit. That way, it would not come up for another vote until unemployment actually decreases.

Sanders brought up the fact that he is getting 99% approve on his view of killing this bill...

Republicans and Democrats should both be against this debt increaser....Or are they really that shallow?

It is a gamble but the Democrats could kick the GOP in the bxlls and take the air out of their claims, by standing up tall and saying we are the Party of fiscal responsibility and let the tax cuts expire. It is especially egregious that the Wall Street Goldman financiers are the primary beneficiaries of the tax cut for the rich because they are the wealthiest sector in the USA. They've been pillaging the USA with ill gotten gains for years now, and they were the instrumental in hurting the economy and on the receiving side of trillions in Federal Reserve aid and bailout dollars. Now they want more.

Obama failed to go after their crimes when he needed to. Instead he gave only lip service criticism to their mega bonuses and then they got more. Citi Group has said that they will use their tax losses to eliminate all their taxes in the foreseeable future. These tax losses should have been cleared from their books because they were essentially bankrupt except for help from us.

The Democrats and Obama could have made huge political hay on the backs of a deserving Wall Street but they didn't - why????? Because Wall Street owns them with their money and their donations. It's time they started paying more in taxes to remove the temptation to buy politicians.

But Pelosi has been very quiet lately. This is her last chance, because a lot can be done in a lame duck Congress. Michael Moore urged them to get a lot done, Pelosi has held up many good bills.

I'm not sure why Obama panicked. He described this process as being held hostage by the GOP, doing this compromise in order to save a few temporary programs, especially unemployment benefits. The failure of renewing would have a negative impact on the economy.

Sanders described the sham being pulled off well in the filibuster.

This man is no kook. He knows what's going on in this world, and what we can do to go forward technologically. Where he calls the transformation from type zero to type one. In other words, a one world planetary government is inevitable. But in the meanwhile, how do we survive this transition when we have so many negative things being pushed, so many degradations of the human being and destruction of all that we loved and dreamed of having.

The expiration deadlines come and go, and the republican-led House crafts a tax legislation bill that will likely breeze through the Senate using the conservative wing of Democratic senators to make up the margin on cloture. That's not going to be a better bill.
