Would you accept Anh Cao into the Democratic Party?

Simple question.

Anh Cao now has a target on his back from his own party. His district is 65% Democratic and he may not even make it past a GOP primary.

Would you accept him as a new member of the Democratic Caucus?

I'm sure he would fit right in with some of our others.

Another defector's always a good thing, but I'd like someone a bit forward-thinking.

If he's equivalent to a blue dog Democrat, then we don't need him. I'd rather see him replaced by a real Democrat.

As it stands, Cao is a one term congressman. He hasn't impressed me much so far, and I'm not that excited about his hcr vote, but it is a start, I suppose. He would probably face a contested primary as a Democrat.

He seems to be intelligent. But he chose to throw that intelligence away and run as a Repub. In a 65% Democratic district.

I'd be suspect his future judgement.

People can join the Dem party if they want to. If his constituents accept it, that's the real measure.

which is solidly democratic and black. That will be a guarantee that he will not do some bullshit like congressman shuler in NC and vote republican-like. We have enough of those.

If he was in a moderate to center right district, I would not trust him no farther than I can see him. The only reason he voted for HRC is because he caught HELL back home for the no on the stimulus bill.

... aside from the religious angle, his resume screams Democrat (and an incredibly well rounded one, at that). The whole idea of a Physicist/Philisopher/Lawyer.... Republican... just doesn't make any sense.

Funny how DU seems to be more welcoming of Cao because ONE vote, rather than people like Kucinich.

Joe Leiberman has proven that labels are just labels. I don't know much about what this guy thinks about a number of issues. But I am happy that he chose to represent the interests of his constituents rather than be bullied into voting "just 'cause."

He only won because Jefferson was such a criminal. However, his vote will probably be better then my own so called independent Senator Lieberman.

That would be good enough reason to invite him into the caucus, to spit in the face of Eric Cantor and other Rethugs who think the GOPs future is anything other than isolation to racist districts and political irrelevancy.

The future IS people similiar to Cao, Mr. Can'tor. Smart, YOUNG, educated, willing to act on the issues of their district. (I can't agree with his anti-abortionism, but it's not my district) And you've driven him out of the party! How's that gonna play to other Asian voters, seeing you and your boy stand over him during votes like you're some kinda slave overseer? And then start attacking him because of 1 measly vote....yeah, that's gonna play well to the minority heavy districts...

I don't think it's right for the republicans as vulnerable as this guy. I bet they feel that he's a sure loser in 2010, so they can do anything with him.
