I am just in awe of all that has been accomplished in the last year.. just in awe |
|
Any one of these things could have defined an administration, as successful..
From Lily Ledbetter, and protections for women in the work force.
To having Gay Americans protected under the Matthew Sheppard act that the right has fought against for years.
The saving of the economy.. we were on the precipice.. of a complete economic meltdown that would have destroyed the country.
The ending of torture as an American way of getting intelligence. While GITMO is not yet closed and we are trying to figure out how to sort out the people imprisoned under Bush.. Obama ended the practice of torture...
And now the house has passed a Health Care Act.. (contrary to some, the President was meeting behind the scenes with legislator on Saturday).. Since Teddy Roosevelt we have never been this close.. we still have the senate to go.. but think about that .. in one year, we got something through one of the houses that no one could do since Teddy R.
And that is only a partial list.
And the party of NO, can not name one thing this administration has accomplished according to Steele. Can you say delusional denial of the truth of the situation

I agree that this Administration has done quite a bit and there is always more to do. I don't envy PO in the least, he has his plate full; what the bush administration left behind made Sherman's March look like a Sunday walk through the park.
Most things take immense amounts of time, he's done quite a bit so far. Not everyone will see that, but it is the truth.

13. The whole GOP is in meltdown... |
|
they cannot see anything, except some deluded notions that are incapable of meeting anything that can come close to being tested for rationality.
On the other hand, the previous administration did more than enough to tear this country in to shreds and use it for their own nefarious purposes. bush/cheney shoould have sealed the GOP's fate to second fiddle for a generation...we shall see.

10. I am so proud of our President |
|
and I'm proud of us, the ones who put him in office. He's not perfect and never claimed to be, but he's smart and patient and compassionate. His administration's accomplishments will undoubtedly generate disappointment as well as celebration. I will always, always believe his heart is in the right place while understanding that he (and we) will have to accept some compromises and perhaps failure. I stand with our President and hold him to his reminder: He said he was just one person, that he couldn't do it alone. Obama said, "Make me do it."

by the way.I am proud of what he has been able to accomplish.I know he can't undo everything that Bush ruined, hell you can't bring people back from the dead but I hope justice gets served with that last adminsitration. Any intentional wrongdoings by them are made right, justice served.I wish he would close the illegal jails and end the wars as soon as possible. If he can clean up Bushes messes that would be something. It's so nice to have an intellectual president.

12. I think you've got the torture thing wrong. Rendition has not been proscribed, |
|
and I believe torture is still an option in "special"(!) circumstances.
Which is not to say that Obama has not achieved a lot of good in other respects, and I believe he's working on re-assigning the accommodation of the remaining prisoners in Guantanamo. I do think though that he should be draconian in reining back the warders in Guantanamo, who seem to have the mindset of the Nazi prison-camp trustees with the approach of the Allied victors. They are clearly defenceless against such "freelance" malice.
