Can everyone agree with this statement, at least? |
|
The bill is meaningless if the Senate takes ANYTHING else out? That nothing short of the House version can matter?

|
I'm with you on sacrificing that part of the bill.

5. That's the ONLY thing they'll leave in |
|
The most onerous part of the bill is the only thing they seem to agree on.

6. If you take out mandates it automatically follows that you cannot have |
|
no discrimination or fee deferential on pre existing conditions.
If you do you will create "Regulatory adverse selection" and the system will collapse.

4. this is not the Bill the Senate will work on. They will pass their own. |
|
Then the 2 Bills will be combined in Conference.
You're getting prematurely worked up.

7. If you mean Public Option then yes |
|
If you mean other things like reducing the inital subsidy then no.
In order to get 60 votes some Senators will have to have some trophy to show for their effort, probably on reducing deficit spending.
I expect that it has already been scripted and agreed upon.
The Public Option is the only big item that cannot be removed IMHO.
