Whats the difference between the Presidents vocal opposition to gay civil rights and the blue dogs

stance on many issues?

I have heard it said that Obama's characterization of marriage as being between a man and woman is just political reality. That he could not win election if he expressed his true feelings. Does that not make him a blue dog in a sense? A political realist that places election and re-election above principle?

1. Yes

I guess I'm a second class citizen because the president's religion says it must be so. When GWB did it, democrats were rightly upset - but when a Democrat - any Democrat, including the president, does it, it's all right.

2. But, would it be more hurtful if the President did support marriage,

but was only opposing it in public due to prevailing opinions of the electorate?
