Hey all you non-supporters, it is better than NOTHING. |
|
Don't you know that getting through a crappy bill is better than no bill???
And you know the saying, "when the going gets tough, vote for a bad bill!!"
Jump on board this bill or leave the DU. We only want people here who support Democratic bills no matter how crappy they are.

All things considered, I'll take this crap. And so will millions of other Americans once they desperately need this crap.

4. If we can have litmus tests for other issues, I think this should be one of them. |
|
If you can't support this bill, you should have your DU membership revoked. Period.

Now we know where our politician's true loyalties lie. From now on I KNOW that I will not give one penny nor work for any election of any of the candidates who brought us this. I will show up for elections to vote against any candidate who is a corporate whore no matter which party they run under.

with me, most of the women, thanks to the Stupak amendment will be. There will be a huge backlash if this is allowed to stay.

coverage for pre-existing conditions. you overestimate the popularity of your outrage. outside of DU, and in reality, this is considered a victory.

18. What good is that if they can't afford the coverage? |
|
I'm against tiered systems anyway. As a near communist I feel everyone should have the same access to quality health care regardless of their economic status. Back in the forties and fifties we had county hospitals and clinics that the poor and uninsured could go to, but there were always the stories of how dingy and crowded these facilities were but hey at least they were getting basic health care. The middle class and wealthy people didn't want to share the same waiting room with these poor underclasses so that's where the insurance industry started gaining a foothold. When that happened and we had uptown and downtown in health care, the public health patients got less and less in quality health services as the budget cuts to these institutions lessened their effectiveness more and more. They are practically non-existent these days except in some large cities.
As for victory, I know the insurance companies are high fiving each other behind closed doors, even though they pretend to be miffed. For us, it's a Pyhrric victory at best, but do enjoy it while your bubble is inflated because it will become deflated once all the holes in it let out all the air.

23. It will have a chance when this plan is a colossal flop, then Washington |
|
will have to get it right the second time around. It's too bad we couldn't skip this phase of trial and error, since it's been tried before and failed and single payer has been tried before and is a success, even in our country, where it's known as Medicare.

7. Tell me how the bill you wanted would've passed the House again? |
|
Edited on Sun Nov-08-09 11:26 AM by liberalmuse
Oh, wait. It wouldn't have. Not for another 40 years, anyway. That kind of extremism is found on the right as well. They want to save fetuses, because they are pure and perfect, but fuck all the flawed human beings. Reality isn't pure. It's flawed and ugly, but its REAL. I prefer that over some pretty little perfect thing that doesn't have a chance in hell of truly existing.

11. No, draw us a roadmap. |
|
List all 218 House votes and 60 Senate votes that would get you the bill you want. I want to know each person you think would vote for your bill. Otherwise, you have no case.

Hey I've got an idea. let's pay trillions of dollars to build a national system of public roads that connect every part of the country, including areas where nobody lives.
Naw....That'll never happen.

26. It is NOT a "crappy" bill. With you people anything short of what you want is "crappy" and in the |
|
real world that is a NUTTY way of thinking. You obviously have ZERO sense of political reality. Sorry, but you like the TeaBaggers are on the nutty side of history. This is just a start. But we MUST start somewhere. And all you can do is piss and moan because of its imperfections rather than see a half full glass advance on the issue. FOOLISH and HOPELESS !
