Can we stop the false propaganda?
Edited on Fri Nov-06-09 06:04 PM by impik
Not only that people spread sheer lies about how much Barack Obama has done so far, there's another memo no less annoying, painting him like some regular liar who breaks all his promises. This is just BS. Yes, there's always a difference between what the candidate say in the freedom of the campaign and what he can do when actually governing - And how many campaign promises previous president kept? - Obama, actually, hold a *very* good ratio. Lies and false information should come from the teabaggers, not Liberals.

1. Where are the lies about Obama?
I haven't seen them, but if what you are saying is true, I'm with you.

8. Lies about Obama recently have come in three forms:
1. He's not doing what he said he would.
2. He not doing anything.
3. He's in the pocket of (insert disliked group here).

21. 4. Listing all the things STILL WAITING TO BE DONE as "accomplishments"...
Obama has done MUCH good - in fact - if Obama did NOTHING - it would be GOOD because at least we wouldn't be getting all the NEW OUTRAGES that occured EVERY SINGLE DAY a REPUKE WAR CRIMINAL was in control!

And every single day I wake up and go to bed, I SMILE.

I SMILE because Obama and NOT that AWOL War Criminal bush* or cheney or the REPUKES are in control any longer!!!

That being said, it's extremely annoying to me to see PENDING - ever POSTPONED and DELAYED - positions noted as ALREADY ACCOMPLISHED...!!!

That was a sad attempt at humor, to be honest. I'm with you.

12. Some people in the left-wing blogosphere do want a massive defeat next year.
They don't know what to do with themselves if they're not raging against the machine. Actually being in power requires politics and compromise.

29. No, but you should see what some of these
'Democrats' post on other websites. They quite clearly are not interested in reform, but rather in revolution. Given that Democrats are the government, that makes the Democrats their enemy.

I wanted to say "very well said", but someone else said "very well said" before I could say it.

anyway, I'm glad Obama got elected on more than ranty verbiage

(I was going to say "I'm glad it takes more than ranty verbiage to be in power", but uh...had to correct myself...there are some who clearly got there solely on ranty verbiage... and a knack for greasing palms. :P )

9. It's bizarro world...
Half the time I think I've stumbled into Free Republic by mistake.

Sad.

I have had so many PM's lately from old timers who are taking a break... or leaving for good.

I think most people want to be in a more positive place, with good work being done to get good things done. Instead I find myself trying to lay waste to lies and other such things I never thought I'd do at DU.

I may take an extended break myself... I sure don't spend much time here anymore.

Pretty freaking sad.

26. So agree, it's one thing to have an opinion or disagree but,
Edited on Sat Nov-07-09 01:23 PM by lyonn
the snarky, insulting of intelligence rhetoric seems to come from those that think they know more about how things are going than the average "bird" on this site. I come here to hear different opinions or ideas not feel like if I comment I will be hacked on. Hell, I know I am not very smart, just anxious about my country. Obama has and will get my support. Of course I have concerns, for instance, Geitner and Summers. But, I don't want a rant, just some informative feed back. For instance, maybe a month ago someone here sited an article about Obama's Mom working for someone connected to Geitner. Now it is my fault that I haven't researched this further. Still, it was information that I could work with if I would just do My homework.

Right now I am watching the House's hearing on heath care and I can not find a post on this. This is such a big deal. Course I am not on here enough, could have missed the post.

Edit: Clarification on the Geitner thing, I have not drawn a conclusion on his influence on Obama's economic plan. The masses have a short memory. Our economy was going in the tank in 2007. This is the biggest economic disaster since the crash of the 30's. It's hard to imagine any administration fixing this problem in 9 months!!!

13. Now impik, you know I love you like a play cousin.........
.... but on THIS you're wrong. I realize you're defending him, but Barack Obama was not someone who gave an empty promise under the safe umbrella of the campaign stump. If he said it, he meant it.

There are a few exceptions, but the case with most of these "failed promises" are in fact the accusers ignorance of what he actually said.

I think some of us were screaming "YES WE CAN!" so loudly they weren't listening to the man speak.

15. Some of these broken-promise allegations seem premature, too.
http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/promises/promise/24/end-income-tax-for-seniors-making-less-than/

Okay, it didn't make the first budget...but what if it turns up in next year's, or a couple-three years after that? I won't insist that this be re-labeled as "in the works," but Jesus--not everything a president promises to work for is rubber-stamped by Congress.

Same with the culture of fraud on Wall Street.

This isn't advanced rocket science- and it's all been done (and ruled constitutional) before.
