I'm worried the election results will destroy any chance of real Health Care passing |
|
Lets be honest, the Democrats are gutless. This will further drive them apart. Please tell me I'm wrong.

However, for an entirely different reason healthcare reform is in danger of getting destroyed
More and more I am becoming convienced that we deserve, (not you or I personally), but the country exactly what it gets

If you think two governor's races will have an effect on Congress, you are clueless.

Lets be honest, this post is silly.
And those 'gutless' Democrats are going to pass the HCR bill.

health care bill might not be passed til early next year. Looks to me like they're having trouble getting a bill that will get enough votes. And the election year thing probably makes it more difficult to get the votes.
The mandate has to be causing some second thoughts. The only way it will work is if the penalty is high enough to ensure near universal participation. I don't see Congress voting that kind of penalty. It has the potential to anger a lot of voters. The other issue is cost. They're using a gimmick to fund almost half of it -- taking $400 billion from Medicare. That's not credible. Let them explain how they're going to do that, since Medicare already scrimps on reimbursements to doctors and hospitals. That could easily lead to higher costs for Medicare recipients. I take Mary Landrieu's comment -- that this plan could bankrupt the government -- as a serious consideration in Congress. Maybe if we weren't in such poor fiscal shape to begin with, it might not be an issue. But the public appears to be sensitive to the huge deficit. And then there are the assertions that this plan will actually drive insurance prices higher. That's a legitimate concern also.
So all together I can see the possibility that nothing major will be voted on. Not trying to be negative, but just looking at reality.

15. Republians blew their signature race! |
|
They brought in the big guns and went down in flames.
Deeds ran as a DINO and got taken down by a red meat Republican.
The message to Republicrats (if they have any sense) will be- weaken or obstruct health care reform, and you'll be the first ones to lose your seats!

I'm starting to see a concentrated effort to raise discontent among Dem's on other Dem's. Some of them are deserved on this end, it is not.
