Good God! Obama's only been in office 10 MONTHS!

The media is out of control. And many are parroting the media. I'm starting to regard the media as entertainment and entertainment only. This isn't even opinion journalism. It's tabloid entertainment. There is little substance beyond people complaining about nothing!

Did everyone really expect that healthcare would get passed in one week? How about bringing the troops home in one month? Or closing Abu-Graib in a day? What of ending don't ask don't tell? 10 months! And the media is asking you to believe one of two things. He's either too slow... or he's moving too fast. Which is it?

Did folks forget that there is a constitution and that he explained that he would follow the constitution. Congress was supposed to lead on Healthcare. He is supposed to differ to the other branches of government. His job is to sign it into law.

Again!

He's moving too fast!
He's not moving fast enough!
Shouldn't he slow down!
He's dithering!
Shouldn't he put more troops in quickly!
He should take his time and assess the situation on the ground!

Pull! Tug! Lead!

Too much exposure!

And so he gives a speech to the joined branches of congress and states clearly what he wants to the tune of "you lie" and the media is still explaining that he isn't clear enough and they spend an entire week pimping Wilson to the national electorate. WTF!

And to boot - the media has been wrong about damn near EVERYTHING! They've been on the wrong side of coverage even when they say they're covering news! Sanchez of CNN (Huh) wanted to bulldoze Fox for explaining that he did not cover the tea bag protest! ARE YOU SHITTIN' ME?! He gave that noise machine a dissertation on Fox's own promoted event? He looked real smart there didn't he?

And... Cost containment is more important than the health of all Americans...? The media is an arm of the political discourse in this country and the rest of the world is laughing at us. They are looking at us and wondering what is going on in this country. HOW CAN COST CONTAINMENT WITHIN HEALTH CARE BE MORE IMPORTANT THAN LIFE ITSELF? EXCUSE ME! And the media just laps up every freaking talking point the GOP lays out there.

The entire media from coast to coast on every channel has become Fox Noise! Stop following Fox down the rabbit hole. The grenade is going to go off sooner of later and news will lose the shred of legitimacy it has. This endless drum beat of negative vomit is not news. It's just vomit and I think people should stop parroting the negativity.

DU should hold a moratorium one day a week on the gossip of the day and call for the promotion of the positive accomplishments of the last 10 months.

Do we really want to go back to 8 years before? Remember that? The media wants the Hoffmans and the Becks and Limbaughs to rise up once again. We only help them by promoting their stories. Stop it! Depress this noise by reporting Democratic accomplishments. The president in 10 months has done more than any president in my memory. President Obama is not perfect. He doesn't walk on water. We must push him to be the kind of president we elected. Write him and tell him not to keep feeding Afghanistan! Tell him to stop caving to his advisors. This is more constructive than being a megaphone for the negative dumbasses rotating the network dials.

I think he's doing a great job considering what he's up against and I certainly never expected things to be fixed or even back to normal after only 10 months. GOBAMA!!!! :thumbsup:

They know exactly what they are doing. They are destroying a Presidency. He moves quickly, the attack for being too fast.

If he isn't taking action then he is moving too slow. You get the picture.

They are controlling the message and doing what ever it takes to make Obama ineffective.

Since he is the messiah, expectations are higher than for any other President in history.

A third grader could write the playbook for the media these days. Isn't it strange how adding more choices actually reduced the quality of the so-called "news".

One person may believe Pres. Obama is taking on too much, another person may believe Pres. Obama is doing too little, and yet another person may believe Pres. Obama is taking on the correct amount of subjects.

Congress was supposed to lead on Healthcare.

Pres. Obama is the leader of the Democratic party and he is supposed to lead the party on health care reform, and in my opinion, he has been leading on health care reform.

How about bringing the troops home in one month?

I believe he promised we would be out of Iraq in a year and a half. He still has eight to nine months to go.

Or closing Abu-Graib in a day?

He said he would do this in one year. He has two months to three months.

The rest of the world is not just laughing, some of them even flew airplanes into some of our buildings.

however in my opinion people should chill out a bit. He has only been in office 10 months. There has been no terror attack on his watch. He is trying to get healthcare done, the markets stable and people shouldn't expect that he can do all of this in a year.

The lengths of times I chose were arbitrary. I pulled them out of a hat. The expectation game is promoted by media. No president has done as much as he's done in ten months. President Obama has created a very high benchmark for the next president... in 2016.

Criticism of Obama is about what he HAS done or has FAILED to do, not with the absence of a perfect outcome to-date. If (or more likely when) health care reform fails, are critics supposed to then wait another year or two (or whatever your personal calendar is) before they are allowed to comment?


Life--and Obama's Presidency--are happening in real time. Events don't wait until he's been in office for a year or two or three before they happen. He is President, full-on, no excuses, and fully accountable for his action (or inaction) from minute one.

But you and your posse go ahead. Rail against that strawman.

Wouldn't that share of the blame go to Congress?

Or is Obama suddenly king, and can make laws now by snapping his fingers? People are just used to the Bush years where Congress was full of a bunch of Republican lemmings who kissed the floor when Cheney walked by. "Thank you master, want a coffee?"

The truth is, the "Tea Party" movement does not understand our government, and how Obama can do none of the things they blame him for doing. These "Constitution purists" are too stupid to realize that Obama is limited by the Constitution, and Congress is who their beef is with. The irony is thick.
